The Police’s Criminal Investigations Directorate will this week grill three former KCCA officials, Dorothy Kisaka and her deputy, David Luyimbaazi who were sacked last month over the Kiteezi dumpsite mess.

Also to be grilled is former director for public health, Daniel Okello.

Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke said the trio will appear at CID headquarters in Kibuli on Wednesday at 10am.

The sacking of the trio by President Museveni stemmed from an investigation by the Inspector General of Government (IGG).

The IGG’s report revealed severe negligence and mismanagement at the Kiteezi site, Uganda’s largest landfill, which led to the fatal incident.

The president consequently directed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and other relevant agencies to thoroughly probe the matter, particularly focusing on potential criminal negligence linked to this tragic event.

Museveni also directed the Public Service Commission to advertise the positions of Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, and Director of Public Health, with the aim of appointing replacements within three months.

Consequently, the three positions have been advertised.

Luzira beckoning

Following the summoning of the three former KCCA heads, pundits have said they could be headed to Luzira prison.

Going by precedents in the Karamoja iron sheets case where ministers Mary Goretti Kitutu, Agnes Nandutu and Amos Lugoloobi and the budget corruption case involving Members of Parliament where the summoned MPs spent the night in the coolers before being taken to court, the three former KCCA technical wing leaders are expected to follow the same predicament.

CID director, AIGP Tom Magambo recently bragged that they are no longer predictable as was in the past.

“These days when we invite people here( at CID), they are not sure of going back home because we have gradually improved our investigation capacity that when we call you, many times we are almost done with investigations. It is very rare to call people and ask them to come, then go back, then come. These days, when we call you, your file is ready and you might not leave this place,” Magambo said during a recent function at Kibuli.

This he said is because of intelligence led investigations that they conduct.
