Everything is set for President Museveni to be formally nominated as the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the party’s presidential flag bearer.
The nomination later today, Saturday will take place at the NRM Electoral Commission offices, marking a significant step in the ruling party’s preparations for the upcoming polls.
In a statement, Statehouse said Museveni’s decision follows the urge by supporters during the nationwide wealth creation and the Parish Development Model (PDM) tour .
State house said during his tours across all 18 zones of Uganda, local leaders and community members repeatedly urged President Museveni to remain in leadership.
” Many expressed a strong desire for continuity in leadership, emphasising the stability and progress that has characterised Museveni’s administration since he first took office in 1986,” State House said.
“Many cited the stability and development achieved under his administration since he first assumed office in 1986. Calls for continuity were dominant, with supporters highlighting progress in agriculture, healthcare, education, and infrastructure,
While the NRM Electoral Commission requires all aspiring candidates for party chairman and presidential flag bearer to secure at least 100 endorsement signatures from National Conference members across different regions, President Museveni has already met this requirement.
The nomination is expected to pave the way for an energized campaign season, with the NRM positioning itself around themes of continuity, peace, and economic transformation.
“The excitement and hope for ongoing economic growth and national stability are firmly anchored in the belief that President Museveni is the best choice for leadership in the years to come.”
