Uganda Cranes attacker Allan Okello has completed a move to Moroccan giants AS FAR Rabat, bringing his memorable six-month spell at Tanzania’s Young Africans SC to an impressive end.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a three-year contract with the Rabat-based military club in a deal reportedly worth Shs2.98 billion. The move marks his return to North African football after his previous stint with Algeria’s Paradou AC.
Okello leaves Yanga as one of the club’s standout performers despite spending less than a full season in Tanzania. After joining the Dar es Salaam giants from Vipers SC in January 2026, he scored 14 goals and provided eight assists, helping the club secure a domestic league and cup double.
His dazzling performances, coupled with his trademark dance celebration, quickly turned him into a fan favourite among Yanga supporters.
Announcing the signing, AS FAR Rabat welcomed the Ugandan star with a message on Instagram.
“Allan Okello, welcome to the ASFAR family. Let’s fight for the colours and make this season unforgettable.”
Okello also took to X to bid farewell to Young Africans, thanking everyone associated with the club for making his brief stay in Tanzania memorable.
“Thank you for believing in me and for making my short time at this great football club truly special. I’m grateful for every moment, every lesson and the incredible support from the president, my teammates, coaches, staff and, most importantly, the Young Africans fans.”
He acknowledged that leaving Tanzania was an emotional decision.
“As I leave to embrace another challenge, I do so with a heart full of gratitude and unforgettable memories. It has been an honour to wear the green and yellow jersey. Thank you, Young Africans SC, for giving me a home in Tanzania. You will always hold a special place in my life.”
The former KCCA FC and Vipers SC playmaker said he is eager to begin the next chapter of his career in Morocco.
“I’m thrilled to officially sign with AS FAR Officiel. I’m excited to embrace this new challenge and ready to give my best for the team. Let’s get to work.”
Okello’s move to Morocco continues a career that has taken him across East and North Africa.
He rose through the ranks at KCCA FC before joining Paradou AC in Algeria. After returning home, he signed for Vipers SC in September 2023 as a free agent and spent two seasons at Kitende before sealing a reported Shs1.08 billion ($300,000) move to Young Africans in January 2026.
Now, with AS FAR Rabat set to compete for the Moroccan Botola Pro title and continental honours, the Ugandan “Starboy” will be looking to shine on an even bigger stage.
