A 47-year-old businessman has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his home gate in Manja Cell, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.

The deceased has been identified as Edirisa Ssekandi, a resident of Manja Cell.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 11:00pm on October 10, 2026, after Ssekandi and two family members, his wife and son, left their workplace in Kiteemu Trading Centre and headed home in a Subaru Forester, registration number UA 401DN.

Police said the family was attacked by unidentified gunmen armed with a firearm as they arrived at their home gate.

Ssekandi was shot by the assailants and died at the scene.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala said investigations had commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify those responsible.

“Police have commenced investigations into the incident, and efforts are underway to identify, trace, and apprehend the suspects so that they can be brought to justice,” Kawala said.

Police have appealed to anyone with credible information that could help identify the attackers to report to the nearest police station.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
