The Confederation of African Football (CAF) president, Patrice Motsepe, has commended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the people of Uganda for successfully hosting the CAF TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
The appreciation was delivered on Sunday by the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, who carried a special message on behalf of Motsepe.
According to Speaker Among, the recognition reflects Uganda’s growing stature as a trusted destination for continental sporting events.
“Earlier today, I delivered a special appreciation message to President Museveni on behalf of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe. This message was for the people of Uganda, recognising their successful hosting of the CAF TotalEnergies African Nations Championship 2024,” she said.
She extended gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the tournament’s success, noting the unity that sports brings.
“I thank President Museveni, Janet Museveni, the local organising committee , FUFA , and the incredible fans who helped create unforgettable memories during the tournament,” Among added.
The 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), held in August and jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, has been hailed as one of the most vibrant editions of the tournament.
Uganda, in particular, received widespread praise for its hospitality, organizational capacity, and the passionate support of its fans.
