Chinese automotive giant Jetour has officially launched in Uganda, unveiling two of its latest SUV models—the Jetour Dashing and Jetour X70 Plus—at a high-profile event held at Serena Hotel, Kampala.

The launch marks Jetour’s first foray into the Ugandan automotive market and is being spearheaded by Al Mamoun East Africa, now appointed the exclusive distributor of Jetour vehicles in Uganda.

The company has already established a showroom and a full-service aftersales support center in Namanve, signaling its long-term commitment to the market.

Jetour, a brand under the Chery Holding Group, was founded in 2018 and has rapidly expanded its footprint globally with a lineup of SUVs known for their modern design, affordability, performance, and comfort. The brand’s official philosophy is to deliver “Good Life Cars,” designed to meet the needs of today’s adventure-seeking and value-conscious drivers.

During the launch, Moses Kaggwa, Acting Director at the Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development, welcomed Jetour’s entry as a boost to Uganda’s industrialization and employment efforts.

“Thank you for investing in our economy and creating jobs for Ugandans. We pledge our full support,” Kaggwa stated.

Jetour’s Chief Operating Officer, Zein Abdelmutaal, emphasized the company’s focus on quality, affordability, and strong local presence. He urged Ugandans to embrace brand-new vehicles, highlighting Jetour’s dedication to providing genuine spare parts, robust aftersales support, and reliable servicing infrastructure.

“We are building solid channels to ensure owning and maintaining a Jetour in Uganda is seamless,” he said.

Richard Bamujje, Sales Manager at Jetour Uganda, described the two newly launched models as powerful, all-terrain SUVs designed with the Ugandan consumer in mind.

“For years, Uganda’s automotive market has lacked variety and reliable options. Jetour is filling that gap with vehicles that deliver safety, performance, efficiency, and modern style,” Bamujje explained.

The Jetour Dashing is a compact SUV boasting a bold design and sporty features, while the X70 Plus offers a more spacious and premium driving experience. Both models are tailored for urban and off-road use and are positioned to serve both individual buyers and corporate fleet owners.

The company also announced plans to introduce the Jetour T2 to the Ugandan market before the end of the year, expanding its model range and appealing to a broader customer base.

Jetour’s entry into Uganda comes at a time when Chinese automotive brands are gaining significant ground globally, thanks to competitive pricing, rapid innovation, and evolving consumer preferences. In Europe alone, Chinese carmakers doubled their market share in the first half of 2025, reaching 5.1%—a sign of China’s expanding influence in the global auto industry.

As Jetour plants its flag in Uganda, it brings with it not only vehicles but also an automotive ecosystem focused on local investment, customer service, and product excellence.
