Double Q, a leading automotive distributor in Uganda, has officially launched Heli forklifts — a globally recognized Chinese brand — further expanding its portfolio of industrial and material-handling solutions in the country.

The launch event, held at Double Q’s newly unveiled showroom in Busega on Friday, showcased a range of HELI forklifts including electric, gas, and diesel-powered models with lifting capacities ranging from 1 to 55 tonnes.

Speaking at the event, Bruce Lin, Managing Director of Double Q, announced a strategic partnership with Heli Industry Vehicle Import and Export Company Limited, aimed at transforming Uganda’s material handling landscape.

“This partnership directly supports Double Q’s mission to deliver world-class automotive and material handling solutions to Ugandan businesses,” Lin said.

He emphasized that the Heli forklift range is designed to meet the specific needs of various sectors, including logistics, warehousing, distribution, construction, and industrial operations.

“With Heli’s reputation for quality and performance, we are confident in meeting the diverse demands of Uganda’s growing economy,” Lin added.

The move marks a significant milestone for Uganda’s industrial and logistics sectors, with Heli forklifts now locally available through a certified distributor for the first time. The partnership is also framed as a contribution to Uganda’s broader economic development.

Richard Musani, Head of Marketing at Double Q, highlighted that the introduction of Heli forklifts cements Double Q’s ambition to become a 360-degree automotive solution provider.

“Double Q is now the only company in Uganda offering a complete range of automotive solutions — from passenger vehicles and heavy trucks to road construction equipment and material handling solutions,” Musani said.

He noted that Heli forklifts bring flexibility to Ugandan businesses, with tailored solutions for operations across warehouses, logistics hubs, and factories. Models are available in electric, gas, and diesel variants, offering both choice and adaptability.

Musani also emphasized Double Q’s commitment to affordability, with flexible financing options aimed at empowering businesses of all sizes.

“We offer in-house financing, allowing customers to pay 50% upfront and complete the balance over 12 months, as well as bank financing and outright purchases,” he said. “Our goal is to ensure businesses can scale efficiently, regardless of size.”

Representing Heli on the global stage, Frank Song commended Double Q’s role in accelerating Heli’s footprint in Uganda.

“This launch marks not just the opening of a showroom, but a new chapter in China–Uganda economic cooperation,” Song said.

He noted that Heli, founded in 1958, has been China’s top forklift brand since 1991 and continues to lead with advanced manufacturing and innovation. Heli’s portfolio includes models ranging from 1 to 70 tonnes in capacity.

“In just 18 months, Heli’s market share in Uganda has exceeded 50% — a historic breakthrough,” Song revealed.

The new Busega showroom will also serve as a training and support hub, aimed at building local capacity in sales, after-sales service, and logistics management.

“This facility will showcase our products, train professionals, and promote the development of Uganda’s logistics sector,” Song added.
