The Electoral Commission (EC) has rescheduled the polling date for the Kikuube District Chairperson by-election to June 18, 2026.
The election had earlier been slated for June 10, but the Commission adjusted the date following feedback from stakeholders during a meeting held at the district headquarters on April 27.
EC Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, said the change was made after consultations with key actors in the electoral process.
“The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the public that the polling date for the by-election of the District Chairperson for Kikuube District has been rescheduled,” Byabakama said.
“The election, previously set for Wednesday, 10th June 2026, will now take place on Thursday, 18th June 2026,” he added.
The Commission urged voters, candidates, and other stakeholders to take note of the new date and prepare to participate in the exercise in line with the revised programme.
The by-election follows the death of the former and recently re-elected Kikuube District Chairperson, Peter Banura Araali, who died in a road accident on April 4, 2026.
