Dr. Thadeus Musoke Nagenda, the former Chairperson of the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA), has officially launched a new national platform for business operators dubbed the National Entrepreneurs and Traders Association Uganda (NETA).
Speaking during the launch event held at his Mpoma School in Mukono District, Dr. Musoke said the formation of NETA followed extensive consultations with traders and entrepreneurs across the country, many of whom expressed dissatisfaction with existing representation.
“NETA is not here to compete with KACITA or any other association,” Musoke clarified. “Our goal is to complement existing efforts and bring together all stakeholders to form a unified voice for traders and entrepreneurs in Uganda.”
Musoke, who recently resigned from his position at KACITA amid internal disputes, attributed his departure to political bias within the organization. He claimed that his affiliation with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) was unfairly politicized.
“I’ve always set aside my political ideology to serve the business community objectively,” he said. “It was unfortunate that my integrity and commitment were questioned because of party affiliations.”
Dr. Musoke emphasized that NETA aims to work closely with government institutions and development programs to strengthen public-private dialogue and empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the country.
He invited business owners, traders, and entrepreneurs seeking fresh and inclusive representation to join the new association. NETA’s offices have been established at the St. Matiya Mulumba Building in Old Kampala.
Musoke’s launch of NETA comes just weeks after he was suspended from KACITA leadership. Hajji Isa Ssekitto currently serves as the acting chairperson of the Kampala City Traders Association.
