Kampala Archdiocese is mourning the passing of Rev. Fr. Charles Lwanga Ssewava, who has been serving at Kiwatule Parish and previously served as the managing director of Radio Maria Uganda.
Rev. Fr. Ssewava breathed his last at Lubaga Hospital on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
His death was announced by the Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, through the Kampala Archdiocese Chancellor, Fr. Pius Male Sentumbwe.
In a death announcement issued on September 23, the Archbishop said the Church was deeply saddened by the death of the priest.
“With deep sorrow, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, Archbishop of Kampala, announces the passing of Rev. Fr. Charles Lwanga Ssewava who has been serving at Kiwaatule Parish,” the statement reads.
The Archdiocese said Fr. Ssewava died at Lubaga Hospital on the evening of September 23.
“Fr. Ssewava has passed away this evening on 23rd September 2026 at Lubaga Hospital. Burial arrangements will be communicated in due time,” the statement added.
The Archdiocese called on priests, religious and the faithful to pray for the deceased priest and his family.
“Let us pray for the eternal repose of his soul and keep his family and the community of Kiwaatule Parish in our prayers,” the statement said.
Further details regarding the burial arrangements are expected to be communicated by the Archdiocese in due course.
