Security has arrested a notorious conman who has been posing as a senior officer in the UPDF, scamming unsuspecting foreign investors out of billions of shillings.
The suspect, who falsely identified himself as ‘General Isa’ is said to be part of a well-coordinated fraud scheme in which he impersonates a UPDF general to win the trust of investors, promising lucrative government deals and security-related projects, according to Col Chris Magezi, the Military Assistant to the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
“He has scammed many foreign investors of billions of shillings by pretending to be a UPDF General. He will be prosecuted in the courts of law accordingly,” Col Magezi said.
Details of how long the suspect had been operating remain unclear, but security agencies say he used fake military credentials and high-level contacts to lure victims into his trap.
The arrest is part of a broader crackdown on impersonators and criminal networks exploiting Uganda’s security institutions for personal gain.
