Government through the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development has released an updated list of over 200 licensed labour recruitment companies as of April,7, 2026.
The announcement comes amid growing concerns over fraudulent recruitment schemes that have swindled many young Ugandans seeking employment abroad.
“These are the licensed labour export companies as of 7th April 2026. Many young people are losing money to traffickers and fraudulent companies — please stay alert. Many young people cry out after being cheated,” the state minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development, Balaam Barugahara said in a statement.
The licensed companies on the official list include are 228.
These companies are fully licensed and regulated by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development to ensure the safety, welfare, and rights of Ugandans recruited for work abroad.

Minister Balaam called upon victims of fraud from any of these companies to reach out for help.
“If any of the companies listed below has cheated you, the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development will support you in recovering your money. Additionally, these companies are responsible for following up on your safety and welfare in any workplace you are recruited to. They are fully regulated and monitored by the government through MGLSD,” he said.
The ministry urges anyone planning to seek employment through private recruitment agencies to verify that the company is licensed. A licensed company ensures that young workers are protected, guided, and monitored during placement abroad.
