Police in Katwe have arrested a boda boda rider accused of killing her girlfriend who had just returned from Saudi Arabia and stuffed her body in a travel bag.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala said the gruesome incident happened at 34 year-old Lilian Katusiime’s residence in Masajja Kibira B, Masajja Division, Wakiso District.
The boda boda rider later folded, tied and stuffed the deceased’s body inside a large travelling bag in an incident that happened between November 1 and 2.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased, who had recently returned from Saudi Arabia, had rented a double-roomed house in Masajja Kibira B, where she also operated a retail business dealing in drinks, mobile money services, popcorn and other assorted merchandise,” Kawala said.
She said the deceased was in a romantic relationship with a man identified as Eddy Mulika , a boda boda rider who reportedly used to transport her.
“On November,2, 2026, a neighbor who operates a business near the deceased’s shop, reportedly noticed that the deceased’s boyfriend was removing several items from her shop, including a refrigerator, drinks and other merchandise. This raised suspicion, particularly because the deceased had not been seen around for some time.”
Kawala said when questioned about the whereabouts of the deceased, Mulika reportedly claimed that she was sick and admitted to Mulago National Referral Hospital (MNRH). However, when asked to open the house, he fled the scene.
“Upon gaining access to the house, the occupants discovered the deceased’s body concealed inside a large travelling bag. The body had reportedly been folded, tied and placed inside the bag alongside clothes in an apparent attempt to disguise it as ordinary luggage.”
She said police have also arrested Fred Ssewaanga, a boda boda rider who is alleged to have assisted in transporting some of the deceased’s property, to assist with ongoing investigations.
“We have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder, the motive behind the crime and the possible involvement of other individuals. Police strongly condemn acts of violence and urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report any information that may assist investigators in apprehending the suspect who is currently being sought.”
