A boda boda rider who has in the past one week or so been accused of being a member of the Joint Anti -Terrorism TaskForce(JATT) which has headlined news for reigning terror on National Unity Platform members during Kawempe by-election has broken his silence.
Following the terror on NUP supporters, a section of them went to social media in a bid to try and profile some of the members of JATT.
Among the photos circulated was of Hakim Wanswadhe who was pictured alongside singer, Patrick Mulwana, also known as Alien Skin.
His phone number and TikTok account have since been also circulated.
However, addressing journalists in Kampala, Wanswadhe denied ever being a member of JATT.
“I am a mere boda boda rider. I don’t know that JATT operative in uniform whose picture was said to be mine. I have never known the JATT operative in picture and have never spoken to him,” Wanswadhe said.
Close to Alien Skin
The photos circulated on social media indicated Wanswadhe with singer Alien Skin notorious for violence.
The singer has previously been accused of attacking opposition National Unity Platform headquarters.
Wanswadhe confirmed knowing the singer but said their relationship dates back before his singing career.
“It was said that I am Hakim Kigozi and that I ride JATT operatives on my boda boda which is not true. Since he(Alien Skin) was a mechanic and I am a rider, he used to work on my boda boda. Since then, we have been friends and the photo being circulated was taken when he had got fame. I don’t deny that Alien Skin is my friend but the JATT allegations are not true.”
“I don’t know if I am being accused of being Alien Skin’s longtime friend. By the way I am not a member of Alien Skin’s gang but am his friend. The photo you are seeing being circulated that I am a JATT member are not a true representative of me. Someone photoshopped them but I have never been a JATT member,” a teary Wanswadhe added.
He noted that ever since the photos started circulating, he has received numerous calls and messages threatening to harm him.
“ I have been getting calls and messages threatening me. I have received over 5000 calls from unknown people threatening to harm me and my life. I fearing for my life. I call for anyone who can help me to come out and do so.”
He explained that his photo and contact were got from his TikTok account before being circulated but denied ever knowing or working with JATT.
