The family of murdered TikToker and online entrepreneur Diana Namulinde, popularly known as Diana Skyz, has urged the public to stop spreading misleading and unverified information about her death, saying speculation is deepening their pain and could derail investigations.
The appeal was made on Friday during her burial at Namayumba Sub-County in Kyampisi, Wakiso District, where thousands of mourners gathered to bid farewell to the 24-year-old digital influencer whose life was cut short in shocking circumstances.
Family members said that since Diana’s death, social media has been flooded with rumors, conspiracy theories and false accusations, warning that such content not only hurts the grieving family but also risks obstructing justice.
“We are asking Ugandans to stop spreading stories that are not confirmed. This is not a movie or gossip — it is a real life and a real family in pain,” a family representative said.
They referenced previous high-profile deaths in which online speculation created confusion and misinformation, noting that reckless posts often go unpunished even when they harm innocent people.
Rev. Douglas Kato Sseninde who presided over the funeral mass, spoke against hatred, jealousy and reckless speech urging mourners to reject envy and malice, which he said are often at the root of violence.
Pastor Wilson Bugembe echoed the message, reminding the public that careless actions and words can destroy lives.
Diana was found dead inside her apartment in Kyanja, Kampala, on Wednesday after friends who had gone to check on her discovered the door open and her body inside. She had been living alone.
Police have since confirmed that the case is being treated as murder linked to aggravated robbery. Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said officers from Kira Road Police Station and homicide detectives visited the scene, collected evidence and recorded statements from witnesses.
A security guard attached to the premises was arrested after being found with items believed to belong to Diana, and the cleaner of the apartment was also arrested.
Police have appealed to the public to give investigators space and avoid spreading unverified claims online.
Diana Skyz was widely known for promoting businesses through TikTok and other social media platforms, building a loyal following for her energy, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Her death has left Uganda’s online community in shock, as fans, fellow creators and entrepreneurs continue to mourn a young woman whose future was full of promise.
