President Yoweri Museveni has dropped several senior ministers and state officials in a major Cabinet reshuffle announced on Tuesday evening.
The changes, which form part of the new Cabinet line-up for the 2026–2031 term, saw a number of high-profile figures left out of government, signaling a significant reorganisation within the administration.
Among the notable exits is Gen. David Muhoozi, who served as State Minister for Internal Affairs, while Gen. Jeje Odongo has been replaced as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Henry Okello Oryem is also among those dropped from the new Cabinet list.
Others who did not make it back to Cabinet include former Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa, former Trade Minister Francis Mwebesa, former State Minister Evelyn Anite, and former Government Chief Whip Hamson Obua.

Veteran politician Moses Ali was also left out of the new line-up after serving as Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business.
Former State Minister Kenneth Omona, Muruli Mukasa, Moriku Kaducu, Obiga Kania, Christine Adoa, Hellen Asamo, Florence Nambozo, Peter Lokeris, Matia Kasaija, Betty Amongi, Jacob Oboth-Oboth Cheptoris, Raphael Magyezi, and Bwino Kyakulaga are among the other officials dropped in the reshuffle.
Some of the dropped officials are expected to take up other government assignments, including diplomatic and advisory roles.
The reshuffle has introduced several new faces while retaining a number of experienced leaders in key ministries as President Museveni shapes his administration for the new term.
