Norbert Mao has won a fourth term as the Democratic Party president general.
Mao was on Monday evening declared winner of the polls during a chaotic delegated conference held in Mbarara City.
Mao got 969 votes while Buikwe South MP, Bayiga Lulume came second with 339 votes.
Chaos
Earlier, there was chaos after party secretary general, Gerald Siranda read out names of those standing for different positions and that of Bukoto Central MP, Richar Ssebamala who was contesting against Mao for the position of president was not among.
Delegates started throwing bottles and chairs aimed at the VIP section.
In the resultant scuffle, Mukono South MP, Fred Kayondo who was on Ssebamala’s team was roughed up and injured by security.
He was later rushed to hospital.
