Football fans in Mbarara were treated to a night of thrilling action, entertainment and celebration as Nile Special hosted its FIFA World Cup quarter-final watch party at Green Park Stadium – Trends Bar.
The event marked the third major regional stop in Nile Special’s nationwide FIFA World Cup fan experience, following successful watch parties in Jinja and Gulu, alongside a series of smaller activations held across the country throughout the tournament.
Fans gathered in large numbers to witness the quarter-final encounters, turning the venue into a vibrant football hub filled with cheers, predictions, discussions, music and entertainment.
The first fixture of the night saw England overcome Croatia in a dramatic 2-1 encounter that kept supporters on the edge of their seats. The result generated excitement among fans, who immediately engaged in discussions about the team’s performance and their chances of progressing further in the tournament.

The excitement continued into the early hours of the morning as fans stayed until 4am to watch Argentina’s quarter-final battle against Switzerland. After a tense 1-1 draw at full time, Argentina secured a 3-1 victory in extra time, booking their place in the next stage of the competition.
The late-night fixture did little to dampen the atmosphere, with fans maintaining high energy throughout the match. The Mbarara watch party featured football debates, predictions, music, food and the signature Nile Special match-day experience for adult consumers.

As part of the brand’s ongoing “Gwe Kafulu” score predictor campaign, fans took part in interactive activities, with some lucky participants walking away with prizes including a television set and microwave, courtesy of Nile Special’s partnership with Hisense Uganda.
The event also showcased local entertainment talent, with performances from Mbarara-based artists including Truth 256 and MC Kacheche, adding a regional touch to the global football celebration. Sports journalist and commentator Jermaine Egesa further enhanced the experience through match analysis and fan engagement.

Nile Special’s “Gwe Kafulu” campaign continues to give football enthusiasts an opportunity to predict match scores and win prizes as the FIFA World Cup progresses. The brand’s “Cheers to Bars” initiative is also ongoing, recognising bars as key social spaces where fans gather to enjoy football, connect and celebrate memorable sporting moments.
Following successful regional experiences in Jinja, Gulu and Mbarara, all eyes now turn to Kampala, where Nile Special will host its biggest FIFA World Cup watch party yet at Kings’ Park Arena during the tournament final.
The Kampala finale is expected to bring together thousands of football fans for a major celebration featuring match excitement, entertainment, fan engagement activities, prizes and the full Nile Special World Cup experience that has characterised the campaign across Uganda.
