Police in Kasangati have launched an investigation into the sudden death of a senior government prosecutor who was discovered dead in her home after she went missing from work for several days.
The deceased, identified as Ms. Fatumah Bbuye Nabiwemba, 47, was a State Attorney attached to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) headquarters in Kampala.
Her body was discovered on the evening of July 10, 2025, inside her residence in Wampeewo, Kasangati Town Council, where she lived alone.
According to police, the case was reported by Mr. Hamuza Kabanda, a driver at the DPP headquarters, at around 8:36 p.m., after colleagues became concerned over her unexplained absence.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had not been seen at her workplace for about four days before her body was found.
“She was found unresponsive inside her residence in Wampeewo, Kasangati Town Council, where she lived alone,” Owoyesigyire said. “Preliminary findings indicate that she was last seen at her workplace approximately four days before the discovery.”
A team of detectives, led by the Division Police Commander, visited the scene and recovered several items considered relevant to the investigation.
“The body has been taken to the City Mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death,” Owoyesigyire added. “Investigations are ongoing.”
The cause and circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear, with police saying they are pursuing all leads to determine whether foul play was involved.
