President Museveni has arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for a two-day working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and advancing regional cooperation between Uganda and Tanzania.
The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Tanzanian President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan and is expected to focus on key areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, infrastructure development, regional integration, and peace and security.
Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport, President Museveni was received by Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Uganda’s High Commissioner to Tanzania, Col. Fred Mwesigye, and other senior government officials.
The Ugandan leader inspected a Guard of Honour mounted in his honour before being entertained with a cultural dance performance. He was later escorted by Ambassador Kombo to the Presidential Lounge before proceeding to his official residence in Dar es Salaam.
Earlier, at Entebbe International Airport, President Museveni was seen off by Vice President Jessica Alupo, Minister for the Presidency Milly Babalanda, and the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, Lucy Nakyobe.
According to the Presidency, the visit is expected to reinforce the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Uganda and Tanzania while creating new opportunities for collaboration in strategic sectors.
During the two-day engagement, Presidents Museveni and Samia are expected to hold high-level bilateral discussions on expanding trade and investment, improving cross-border infrastructure, strengthening regional integration under the East African Community (EAC), enhancing peace and security, and deepening the strategic partnership between the two neighbouring countries.
The meeting comes as Uganda and Tanzania continue to work closely on regional development initiatives and economic integration, underscoring the importance of their longstanding diplomatic and economic ties within the East African region.
