President Museveni has in exercise of his powers as the commander in chief of the armed forces, promoted a total of 381 UPDF officers, the Ministry of Defence has said.
In a statement on Wednesday afternoon, the Ministry of Defence spokesperson, Brig Felix Kulayigye said those promoted include one colonel who is promoted to brigadiers general, four acting colonels confirmed as colonels, 18 Lieutenant Colonels to Colonels, five acting Lieutenant Colonel confirmed as Colonels, 61 majors promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and two acting Majors now confirmed as Majors.
The promotions have also seen 92 captains promoted to major , two acting captain confirmed as captains and 210 Lieutenants promoted to Captain.
“The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and UPDF fraternity congratulate the senior and junior officers upon their well deserved promotions,” Brig Kulayigye said.
