Uganda’s Minister of State for Regional Cooperation, John Mulimba, has received copies of letters of credence from Ababu Namwamba, the newly appointed Kenyan High Commissioner to Uganda.
The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Kampala, where Mulimba pledged the ministry’s full support to ensure Namwamba’s tour of duty is successful.
Mulimba highlighted the long-standing and cordial relations between Uganda and Kenya, noting that the partnership is rooted in shared history and a common vision for regional peace, prosperity, and deeper integration within the East African Community.
Namwamba expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded to him by the Ugandan government and citizens, and outlined his priorities as strengthening peace and security cooperation, as well as boosting trade and investment between the two countries.
He emphasised Kenya’s commitment to collaborating with Uganda in key sectors such as tourism and infrastructure development, noting that such partnerships are vital for promoting value addition, attracting investment, and creating jobs.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing people-to-people ties and expanding bilateral trade by accelerating regional integration and addressing non-tariff barriers affecting cross-border commerce.
They also agreed on the importance of sustained consultations and pledged to pursue concrete, time-bound actions to implement their shared commitments.
