A serial land fraudster, Isaac Lutwaama Magandaazi, has been charged and remanded to prison by the Mityana Chief Magistrate’s Court over obtaining money by false pretences.
Lutwaama was arraigned following investigations by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working together with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). He has been remanded until April 9, 2026.
Prosecution alleges that between March and August 2020, in Nawanga, Zigoti Town Council in Mityana District, Lutwaama falsely claimed he was selling land at Block 24, Plot 53. He reportedly obtained shs37 million from a victim despite not owning the land.
Investigators say the suspect misled the buyer into believing he was the rightful owner, only for it to later emerge that the land belonged to someone else.
He is said to have confessed to the offence.
Authorities have further revealed that Lutwaama is linked to several similar cases in Mityana and Wakiso districts.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has urged members of the public who may have been defrauded or had land grabbed by the suspect to report to authorities.
