Police have arrested two of the group of hoodedthugs armed with house- breaking implements who broke into 16 shops at JBK Plaza on Luwum Street in Kampala City last month.
According to Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, during the October 20 incident, the thugs broke into shops that deal in various merchandise, mobile money, and forex bureau businesses.
“The stolen amount was approximately shs33,240,000 and 26,600 USD. Police responded and started investigations,”Onyango said.
He noted that upon reviewing CCTV footage from shop G-12, the owner identified one of the suspects as Bosco Gahungu , a security guard for the building who was along with other unknown male persons.
“Police tracked down and arrested two suspects, Bani Joseph alias Young and Bhosa Samuel alias Sam. They are currently detained at CPS Kampala on charges of shop breaking and theft. The suspects confessed to the crime and admitted to participating in the robbery.”
He said on November 3, 2025, the suspects were taken back to the scene for reconstruction, where they demonstrated how they planned and executed the robbery.
“ Police are still looking for Gahungu Bosco and five others who are on the run and appeal for public assistance in tracking them down.
