Police have launched a manhunt for one of their own, Constable Everest Natujuna for shooting his colleague dead.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, at the Naguru Police Barracks, when Constable Muhangi Arthur was shot dead by Natujuna, who then fled the scene, abandoning the weapon used in the crime.
It is reported by sources privy to the matter that the shooting rose out of a shs500,000 dispute .
Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
“We registered a suspected murder today at Naguru Police Barracks. One Police Constable Muhangi Arthur is said to have been shot and killed by a colleague, Police Constable Natujuna Everest, who is currently on the run,” Rusoke said.
He added that the exact cause of the fatal incident will be communicated once the suspect is apprehended and investigations are complete.
“Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the shooting. The suspect is on the run after abandoning the weapon used in the crime. Once we apprehend him, we shall be able to precisely determine the motive and any other details incidental to this occurrence.”
