The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, has called on the people of Kaberamaido District to safeguard the progress achieved under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government by voting for President Museveni and NRM flag bearers in the forthcoming 2026 general elections.
Speaking during a rally at Kaburepoli Primary School in Ochero Town Council, Janet Museveni said the peace, stability, and development enjoyed across Uganda are a result of the NRM’s firm leadership and consistent investment in key sectors.
“I thank God for using the President and the NRM government to build a strong foundation for Uganda, which has brought peace and stability to our great homeland,” she said. “I encourage you to vote for the President and the NRM so that Uganda can continue building on this strong inheritance.”
Janet Museveni urged residents to recognize and protect the gains made in infrastructure, education, health, and water access, emphasizing that continued support for the NRM government would ensure ongoing transformation and prosperity.
In his address, President Museveni reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upgrading key infrastructure in Kaberamaido, including the Kaberamaido–Karachi–Teso road, with plans to extend tarmac roads from Ochero to Amolatar, Namasale, and Dokolo.
He also highlighted achievements in water coverage, noting that 217 villages (91%) in Kaberamaido now have access to safe water. Two new solar-powered mini piped water schemes have been completed in Obur and Adudul, while additional water projects are being developed in Awelu and Ocero Town Council.
The President further revealed plans to extend water to the 17 remaining villages without safe water sources and to construct two small-scale irrigation projects in Kobulubulu and Swagere parishes.
On education, he said the government has ensured that 26 of the 29 parishes have government primary schools, and six of nine sub-counties have government secondary schools. Two new secondary schools are planned under the UgIFT and USEEP programs.
He also announced that health facilities are being upgraded, with new Health Centre IIIs to be established in Oriamo and Kaberamaido sub-counties, and Health Centre IIs in Murem and Kaburepoli set for upgrades.
