Security that has been laying siege at former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among in Kigo has impounded her luxury acquisitions, including the high-end Rolls-Royce Cullinan she recently acquired.
Security operatives led by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Directorate spent the entire weekend at Among’s residences as investigations into illicit wealth accumulation and corruption intensified.
On Monday morning, police using its low-bed carrier truck loaded the Rolls- Royce vehicle registration number UA 426 EH as well another Range Rover sport car and drove them away to a yet to be known destination.
The Rolls- Royce, estimated to be worth about shs3.4 billion excluding over shs 1 billion in import taxes, was recovered from her home in Kigo after investigators intensified operations to trace it.
According to our sources, CID officers had faced difficulties locating the vehicle after the Speaker allegedly failed to fully cooperate with investigators in recent days.
It is alleged that the car had been moved from the Kigo residence and hidden after questions reportedly emerged over how it was acquired.
The Rolls-Royce Cullinan first attracted public attention after photos and videos of the luxury vehicle circulated widely on social media, sparking debate over its cost and ownership.
Sources further claim that during recent meetings involving President Yoweri Museveni and Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, questions were raised regarding the source of funds used to purchase the high-end vehicle.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the findings from the more than 48-hour search at the homes of outgoing Among in Kololo and Kigo.
However, UG BULLETIN has learnt that the ongoing investigation could be extended to her other residences in Bukedea as well as her office at Parliament.
