Police have released the detailed traffic flow that includes road closures and diversions as President Museveni attends budget reading at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
The budget reading, scheduled for tomorrow, June 12, will result in significant traffic changes for motorists, with restrictions in place from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Key roads in and around Kololo will be inaccessible throughout the day, with authorities urging drivers to plan ahead.
“This traffic plan has been carefully designed to facilitate the smooth movement of dignitaries and ensure public safety during the National Budget reading. We urge all motorists to adhere strictly to the guidelines to avoid unnecessary inconvenience,” said SP Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police PRO, in a statement issued today.
According to police, Lower and Upper Kololo Terrace roads will be completely closed off. Wampewo Avenue will also be blocked at Housing Finance Bank and Kololo traffic lights.
Access to Kololo will be highly restricted.
To ease movement, motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes. Roads that will remain open include Jinja-Kampala Road, Yusuf Lule Road, and John Babiiha Road.
For those attending the event, entry points and parking arrangements are clearly defined.
VVIPS with marked vehicles will use the Western Gate and park behind the VIP seating area.
VIPs and specially invited guests will access the venue via the Eastern Gate on Wampewo Avenue. Additional parking has been designated at UMI and Hotel Africana.
“We understand these disruptions may cause some inconvenience, but they are necessary to ensure the security and success of this national event,” SP Kananura added.
To manage the flow of traffic and enforce the guidelines, police officers will be stationed at major junctions. Emergency and priority vehicles will not be affected by the closures.
The public is advised to cooperate fully and allow extra time for travel on Thursday.
The development means motorists will brace for traffic jam in areas around Kololo since most roads will be blocked .
