A man who was caught stealing from a house on Friday and had his hand chopped off by the owner of the house in Nsangi has died.
The 17-year-old had, on the night of May 8, broken into a house in Mungo A Cell in Kyengera Town Council to steal when the owner caught him red-handed.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala, confirmed that the suspect died at Mulago Hospital due to excessive bleeding.
“He passed on on Sunday, May 10, at Mulago Hospital,” she said.
She added that investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
On the night of May 8, the deceased allegedly broke into a resident’s house and tied up household property, including a mattress, before stealing some items.
It is reported that when the suspect returned to collect the remaining property, he was confronted by the homeowner, who allegedly cut off his hand using a panga.
