The Wakiso Chief Magistrate’s Court has charged three individuals with multiple offences, including forcible entry, malicious damage to property, and illegal eviction of bona fide occupants without a court order.
The accused identified as Ibrahim Ssejjombwe, Allan Kyeyune, and Joseph Musoke on Monday appeared before court on charges stemming from a violent land invasion and destruction of property in Bukasa, Busiro County, Wakiso District.
They were remanded until November 19, 2025.
Prosecution alleges that between January and October 2025, the trio, together with others still at large, mobilized a group of people armed with pangas and sticks and violently entered land comprised in Block 314, Plot 846, belonging to Dr. Paul Biriibwa and Peter Biriibwa.
The suspects reportedly claimed to be bibanja holders before launching a large-scale attack on the property.
During the raid, several structures and assets were allegedly destroyed, including residential houses for workers, animal shelters for cows, goats, and pigs, a perimeter wall, water tanks, trees, coffee and banana plantations, cameras, solar systems, and a 40-foot container.
Investigations indicate that the accused had no lawful claim to the disputed land and lacked any form of documentation or evidence to support ownership.
Authorities further established that the complainants have been in legal possession of the land for over 20 years, holding a valid land title issued in 2001.
Police reports also confirmed that the destruction and eviction were carried out without any court order, constituting a clear violation of the law.
The case highlights ongoing concerns over illegal land evictions in Wakiso District, where several property owners have recently reported incidents of violent takeovers and destruction of property.
The trio will remain on remand as investigations continue and the court prepares for the next hearing later this month.
