The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working in partnership with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), has arraigned two individuals in connection with the alleged extortion of funds from beneficiaries under the Parish Development Model (PDM) in Koboko District.
Driciru Caroline, the Community Development Officer of Midia Sub-county, and Ayite Sebbi Zaituni, Chairperson of the Degiba PDM SACCO, were on Wednesday charged before the Koboko Chief Magistrate’s Court with Demanding Money with Menaces.
According to the Anti-Corruption Unit, the two suspects acting in their official capacities allegedly conspired with others still at large to extort money from community members seeking access to PDM funds.
The offenses are said to have occurred between 2023 and June 2025 within Degiba Parish, Midia Sub-county.
The accused are reported to have demanded illegal payments from PDM beneficiaries in exchange for approving or facilitating the disbursement of funds meant to uplift households from subsistence to the money economy.
This case is part of ongoing efforts by the government to crack down on corruption within key service delivery programs such as PDM.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other individuals implicated in the extortion scheme.
