UBA Uganda marked Africa Day with cultural celebrations held at its head office and branches across the country, as the bank reaffirmed its commitment to promoting African heritage, unity, and diversity.
The celebrations brought together staff, senior management, and members of the board, many dressed in traditional African attire reflecting Uganda’s cultural diversity and broader African heritage.
Observed annually on May 25, Africa Day commemorates the formation of the Organisation of African Unity, which later became the African Union. The day is used across the continent to reflect on Africa’s history, achievements, and aspirations for unity and development.
Speaking during the celebrations in Kampala, UBA Uganda Board Chairman Sebaggala Mustapha Kigozi said the occasion offered an opportunity to reflect on Africa’s resilience and potential.
“At UBA, Africa is not just where we operate, but part of who we are as an institution. We remain committed to connecting people, businesses, and opportunities across the continent,” he said.
Kigozi added that the bank continues to support Africa’s transformation through innovation, collaboration, and financial inclusion.
UBA Uganda Managing Director Kenneth Kisambira said the celebrations also reflect the bank’s identity as a pan-African financial institution operating across multiple African markets.
He noted that Africa Day serves as a reminder of the continent’s cultural richness, diversity, and growing influence globally.
Activities during the celebrations included cultural showcases, fashion presentations, and interactive sessions among staff aimed at strengthening teamwork and cultural appreciation within the institution.
UBA operates in 20 African countries and maintains an international presence in New York, London, Paris, and Dubai. The bank says commemorating Africa Day across its subsidiaries reflects its continued focus on African excellence, inclusion, and economic growth.
