The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has restored power supply to Mbale City and neighbouring districts following a disruption at the Mbale substation.
UEDCL confirmed the restoration in a statement issued on Thursday night, assuring customers that engineers had worked round the clock to safely energize the affected network.
“Power supply has been fully restored in Mbale City, Nakaloke, Budadiri, Bududa, Manafwa, Buwalasi, Sironko TC, Buyombo and the surrounding areas,” said Jonan Kiiza, Head of Corporate and Stakeholder Affairs at UEDCL,
The restoration took longer than anticipated due to flooding at the Mbale Substation on Thursday morning, which left most of the equipment heavily soaked.
Despite the challenge, the UEDCL technical team worked tirelessly and successfully restored power to all affected areas.
The reconnected areas include Mbale City, Nakaloke, Budadiri, Bududa, Manafwa, Buwalasi, Sironko Town Council, Buyombo, and the surrounding communities.
“We appreciate your patience while our technical team worked to safely energize the Mbale substation,” Kiiza added.
Kiiza urged any customers who may still be experiencing outages to contact UEDCL through its service channels for assistance.
The utility encouraged consumers to report any persisting faults via its toll-free contact lines 0800203088, 0800285285, 0800385385 or mobile numbers 0707592442 / 0772285285.
UEDCL emphasized its commitment to ensuring reliable electricity supply and responding promptly to network disruptions across the country.
