Police in Soroti City have arrested a woman accused of illegally selling passports and other immigration-related documents, recovering 261 passports during an intelligence-led operation.
The suspect, identified as Abilo Tesira, was apprehended on the morning of February 22, 2026, during a security operation conducted in Orwadai following reports linking her to the illicit trade.
Confirming the arrest, Police Spokesperson said the operation was carried out after security agencies received credible intelligence about her activities.
“During the operation, we recovered about 261 passports, several certificates of good conduct, and yellow fever cards. She was issuing them from her residence,” he said.
The suspect is currently under police custody as investigations continue.
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish how the suspect obtained the documents and whether she was working with accomplices.
