Police have arrested 25 suspects and impounded seven motorcycles during intelligence-led operations across the city, authorities say. The operations targeted drug trafficking, robberies, and other criminal activities.
In Katwe Police Division, police impounded seven motorcycles and arrested 25 individuals during coordinated raids aimed at curbing crime.
Meanwhile, in Nagalama Town, four suspects were arrested for selling opium and marijuana. Exhibits recovered included opium, knives, and marijuana. The suspects were charged with possession of narcotics and frequenting places of drug use.
Further operations in Nalya led to the arrest of Kasita Matiya, wanted for a series of robberies and snatchings.
Police recovered a panga, knives, and opium, and the suspect was identified by victims and detained at Kira Police Division.
In Kira Municipality, 18 individuals were arrested across Nsasa, Bulindo, Katuli, Kigambo, and Namugongo for possession of narcotics, with police recovering opium and marijuana.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango said the operations demonstrate police commitment to dismantling criminal networks and restoring safety in the city.
“These arrests, including the seizure of motorcycles frequently used in crimes, show that Kampala police are determined to fight theft, robberies, and drug-related offences. Our intelligence-led operations continue to target individuals and networks that threaten public safety,” SSP Onyango said.
Police emphasized that the operations are part of a sustained effort to tackle organized crime, prevent drug abuse, and ensure a safer environment for Kampala residents.
