“In this time, government will verify any concerns regarding fines that were issued on the system , review the regulation and sensitize the public on he regulations and the EPS auto,” the minister said.
He said the ministry will continue engaging stakeholders on the automatic EPS system and the new regulations.
The Express Penalty Scheme (EPS) was introduced by the Ugandan government to streamline the process of enforcing traffic fines and improving road safety.
It automates the issuance of penalties for traffic violations, making it easier for authorities to monitor and penalize offenders.
The EPS system was intended to reduce manual handling, increase efficiency, and ensure quicker penalty enforcement. However, the system has faced backlash from motorists, leading to a temporary suspension to address concerns and review its regulations.
