The Sudanese Ambassador to Uganda, Ahmed Ibrahim Ahmed, has praised the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) for its contribution to peace and security across the region.
The Ambassador, who was accompanied by Maj Gen Dr Faisal Al Tayeb Ali Khogali, Sudan’s Military Attaché to Uganda, made the remarks during a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe.
He commended Uganda for its steadfast commitment to regional stability and expressed Sudan’s desire to revive military cooperation between the two nations.
In his response, Gen Kainerugaba welcomed the Sudanese envoy and reaffirmed Uganda’s optimism about achieving lasting peace in Sudan.
He recalled the historic bonds between Kampala and Khartoum, highlighting Sudan’s support that once enabled UPDF operations in present-day South Sudan.
The CDF underscored Uganda’s openness to renewed cooperation with Sudan, noting that the country is committed to working with fellow African states in pursuit of peace and development.
Gen Kainerugaba’s meeting with the Sudanese delegation is part of his wider diplomatic engagements, which have recently included discussions with South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit and other African leaders on strengthening security ties, peace initiatives, and economic collaboration.
