NRM’s achievements are visible for all to see – Museveni Tells Ngora

President  Museveni has said that the achievements of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) over the last four decades are evident and visible for all Ugandans to see.

Speaking during a rally at Ngora BKC Demonstration Primary School in Ngora District, President Museveni said the NRM has significantly transformed Uganda’s development path — progress so visible that, in his words, “even the blind can notice it.”

“Our manifesto is one of transformation, not just talk. It is built on the foundation of work done over the past 65 years and highlights seven key points that represent the NRM’s contribution to Uganda during the 40 years it has been in power,” Museveni said.

He reminded residents of Ngora of the region’s historical significance during the liberation struggle, recalling his camp near the Nyero Rocks and battles fought against rebels and cattle rustlers at Mukongola and Kanyu, including the fight against Alice Lakwena’s insurgents.

“You, the people of Ngora, can audit and see what has been achieved since those difficult days,” he added.

Museveni highlighted the NRM’s efforts in restoring stability, eliminating insecurity, and spearheading development through improved infrastructure, electricity supply, healthcare, education, and access to clean water across Teso and other parts of Uganda.

The President announced that the government has now secured funds to tarmac the Kumi–Ngora–Serere–Kagwara–Bugondo road, adding to the already completed tarmac routes connecting Kumi, Soroti, Lira, Karamoja, and Lango.

“The money is available, and we are now looking for a company to execute the project,” he said.

Museveni, however, emphasized that while infrastructural development is essential, wealth creation at the household level remains the most critical step in eradicating poverty.

“From the beginning, we have insisted on separating development from wealth. Development — like schools, hospitals, and roads — benefits everyone, but wealth is personal. What belongs to me individually is either my wealth or my poverty,” he said.

He said whereas the NRM has been preaching this gospel since the early 1990s, many Ugandans have not taken heed.

“We tell people this message but don’t listen. They entertain politics of lies. Don’t look at politics as words of politicians talking. The politics of NRM is to solve people’s problems by showing them the way to go and assisting them where possible. That’s why we have been having all these efforts like Entandikwa, NAADs, Operation Wealth Creation, Emyooga, Women fund, Youth fund and  PDM among others.”
