First Daughter Patience Rwabwogo on Friday joined President  Museveni as he campaigned in Kazo District for yet another term.

Lighting up the rally, Mrs. Rwabwogo listened attentively as the NRM candidate addressed a sea of supporters gathered at Kazo Model Primary School grounds.

Speaking during the rally, President Museveni said the NRM has made seven major contributions to Uganda’s development, noting that “peace has been the springboard of everything the country has achieved in the last 40 years.”

He highlighted the expansion of the road network, saying that tarmac now stretches from Lyantonde to Kiruhura, Ibanda and Fort Portal, with more roads planned.

“Kazo now has tarmac. We got it from Lyantonde to Kiruhura to Ibanda, Fort Portal. The road from Kazo–Burunga–Mpara to Kyegegwa and Karuguza, I know it very well. We have contracted the Chinese to start working on it,” Museveni said.

He also emphasized the progress in electricity coverage, noting that power has been extended to all but three sub-counties.

“In the next Kisanja, government will extend electricity to the three non-electrified sub-counties of Rwemikoma, Nkungu and Kyampangara.”

On health services, Museveni said that out of Kazo’s 10 sub-counties, one has a Health Centre IV, seven have Health Centre IIIs, and there are 11 Health Centre IIs. Only Migina and Kazo sub-counties lack a health facility. He revealed plans to elevate Kazo Health Centre IV to a district hospital and to upgrade Rwamuranga and Migina Health Centre IIs to Health Centre IIIs.

Turning to jobs and wealth, Museveni told residents that personal prosperity requires personal effort.

“We got tarmac from Lyantonde to here, but do you sleep on it? No, you sleep in your own homes. When you go back home, you will find the poverty you left waiting and welcoming you back. A road is development and benefits everyone, including the night dancer and thief. But poverty or wealth is for you as an individual.”

He reminded the community that jobs are primarily created by the private sector, not government, which employs only about 480,000 people out of a population of nearly 50 million.

At this point, he invited his daughter Patience Rwabwogo to the podium.

“This is my daughter but doesn’t work in government. Only (Gen) Muhoozi is serving in government as a soldier but all my other children are in the private sector. This shows you that jobs are in the private sector,” he said, prompting cheers from the crowd.

At previously rallies, Natasha Karugire, another daughter to Museveni and First Lady, Janet Museveni joined him for campaigns.

Museveni closed by urging the people of Kazo to continue supporting the NRM:

“I ask you to support NRM because what it has done can be seen by everyone. What we haven’t yet done, is known, and we have a plan to do them.”
