President Museveni has warned that individuals who promote violence are enemies of wealth creation, job growth, and national development, stressing that peace and stability are fundamental to economic progress.
The President made the remarks on Wednesday while campaigning in Makindye, where he presented the National Resistance Movement (NRM) manifesto and outlined the party’s development agenda.
“Those promoting violence are enemies of wealth, jobs, and development. Roads and social services require money, and money comes from wealth. Bringing unrest is an enemy of everything,” Museveni said.
He emphasised that peace is a prerequisite for sustainable economic growth, noting that government’s capacity to invest in infrastructure and social services depends on wealth generated within a stable environment.
Addressing the Parish Development Model (PDM), Museveni reiterated that the parish remains the centre of decision-making through Parish SACCOs. He acknowledged concerns raised by residents over allegations that some PDM committee members were benefiting themselves.
“On PDM, I emphasise that the parish is the centre of decision-making through the Parish SACCO. Complaints about committees serving themselves are being investigated, and the Minister of Local Government will engage the parishes in Makindye,” he said.
Museveni urged residents to continue supporting the NRM, arguing that the party remains committed to protecting the progress already made while expanding development programmes aimed at improving household incomes and livelihoods.
“I urge the people of Makindye to vote NRM to protect and deepen these gains,” he added.
During the Makindye campaign, the President was accompanied by the First Lady and was received by a large crowd clad in the NRM’s signature yellow.
