Women in Uganda’s Public Relations and other professional sectors gathered on Saturday, 7 March 2026, at Revive Wellness Spa, Kololo, for the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) Women celebration, held under the theme “The Full Woman: She’s Got It All.”
The event, organized a day before International Women’s Day, brought together female professionals to share experiences, reflect on career journeys, and discuss strategies for balancing demanding careers with personal lives.
Irene Nakasiita, PRAU President, urged women in PR and beyond to embrace mentorship and peer support. “As women in communication, we hold immense influence in our workplaces, homes, and the public sphere. Supporting one another elevates not only individuals but the entire profession,” Nakasiita said.
The celebration featured a panel moderated by Sumin Namaganda, Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs at Uganda Development Bank, on “Why Women Make Great Leaders: Charismatic Leadership for Effective Teams.”

Panelists highlighted the pressures women face in juggling careers, family, and community responsibilities and stressed the importance of building supportive networks.
Olive Birungi Lumonya, Deputy Director General at Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, encouraged women in leadership to adopt soft leadership, emphasizing empathy and understanding as tools for team growth. “Empathy is not weakness; it is strength. It allows leaders to guide and support people effectively,” she said.
Edna Torana, CEO of Scanad Uganda, and Elizabeth Namaganda, Head of Marketing & Communications at Pride Bank, emphasized the importance of aligning teams with shared visions and values to create meaningful work experiences.
The event also offered personal development sessions. In the Beauty Class, Cerinah Tugume, Founder of Serene Beauty, spoke on self-awareness and self-acceptance. “Self-awareness allows women to recognize strengths and areas for improvement. Being at peace with who you are does not mean complacency—it means empowering yourself to grow,” she said.
Other sessions included a Healthy Woman module on reproductive health, First Aid training, She Is Bold and Beautiful, Lion Queen meditation, and a makeup session branded Beauty Treat, moderated by Lyn Tukei, Megan Katasi, and Sandra Akello.
Participants shared personal and professional experiences, with young professionals discussing early career challenges and senior leaders reflecting on lessons learned. For many, the event reinforced that success is not a solo journey but one strengthened by mentorship, peer networks, and community support.
The PRAU Women celebration demonstrated the growing influence of women in Uganda’s PR industry and highlighted strategies for achieving professional success while maintaining personal well-being.
