Yalelo Uganda has increased paid maternity leave for its employees from 60 working days to 90 working days, in a move aimed at strengthening support for women in the workplace.

The announcement was made as part of activities marking Women’s Month, with the company saying the policy change reflects its commitment to promoting employee wellbeing and supporting working mothers.

According to the company, the revised policy will apply to all eligible employees and also adjusts leave days for staff working six-day schedules to ensure that women across the organisation can take approximately four and a half months of paid maternity leave.

In a statement issued from Butembe Village, the company said the enhanced maternity leave policy is intended to give mothers sufficient time to recover after childbirth and bond with their newborns.

“At Yalelo Uganda, we believe that building strong communities starts with supporting the women who power our workplace every day,” the company said in the statement.

“Welcoming a child is an important life moment, and it is essential that mothers have the time they need to recover, bond with their newborns and transition into this new chapter of life.”

The company said the change forms part of its broader efforts to foster an inclusive workplace that promotes gender equality, employee wellbeing and sustainable career growth for women.

By expanding maternity leave benefits, Yalelo Uganda said it aims to create an environment where women can continue to thrive professionally while receiving the support they need during important family milestones.

The updated maternity leave policy takes effect immediately.
