Uganda and Qatar have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding economic cooperation following high-level diplomatic engagements in Kampala.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs), Henry Okello Oryem, held a bilateral meeting with Ahmed Mohammed Abdulrahman Abdullah Al Zwaidi, Ambassador of Qatar to Uganda, where both sides emphasized the need to deepen collaboration across key sectors.
During the meeting, Okello Oryem highlighted Uganda’s stable political environment, improved security, and investor-friendly climate as critical factors positioning the country as an attractive destination for foreign investment.
Ambassador Al Zwaidi commended Uganda’s natural endowment and infrastructure development, citing his recent visit to Murchison Falls as a reflection of the country’s tourism potential. He also noted improvements in the road network beyond Kampala.
He reiterated Qatar’s readiness to operationalize pending Memoranda of Understanding and to explore investment opportunities in priority sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing.
Both parties expressed optimism about the future of Uganda–Qatar relations, underscoring their shared interest in unlocking new areas of cooperation and strengthening existing partnerships.
