Uganda is facing a nationwide power outage,the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited(UETCL) has reported.
The outage started at 8:53am on Sunday, according to the national electricity transmitter.
“Our technical teams have commenced efforts to restore the national grid in the shortest time possible and investigating the cause of the incident,” UETCL said in a statement.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate the public’s patience during the restoration process.”
The Sunday morning blackout saw a number of Ugandans take to social media to report being without power.
The aggrieved customers tagged power distributor, UEDCL asking to know what the problem was.
In response, UEDCL referred to UETCL’s statement about the matter, clearly washing their hands clean of the matter.
“We shall restore the distribution grid as soon as our supplier UETCL restores the national grid. We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience caused,” UEDCL spokesperson, Jonan Kiiza said in a statement.
He urged members of the public to switch off all production lines and domestic power sources until they are notified of full restoration of power.
