The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) has unveiled digital membership identification cards as part of its push to modernise services and enhance member engagement during its Annual General Meeting held at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
The landmark AGM brought together members, industry leaders, and key stakeholders to review the association’s performance, reflect on its progress, and set priorities for the future in an evolving communications landscape.
A major highlight of the meeting was the official launch of the PRAU Digital Membership Identification system, designed to provide members with easier access to their professional credentials, improve verification of membership status, and streamline participation in association activities through a secure digital platform.
Speaking at the AGM, PRAU President Irene Nakasiita commended members for their continued commitment to the association, noting that their support has enabled both past and current Governing Councils to deliver on their mandate.
She said the introduction of digital membership IDs reflects PRAU’s readiness to embrace technological change and respond to the evolving needs of communications professionals.
“The introduction of digital membership IDs reflects our readiness to adapt to global digital trends and respond to the changing needs of our members,” Nakasiita said. “The new system will streamline membership management while improving accessibility, inclusivity, and engagement within the association.”
The AGM also provided a platform to review key achievements over the past year, including professional development initiatives, strategic partnerships, and advocacy efforts aimed at strengthening standards within Uganda’s public relations industry.
Members participated in discussions on how the association can further strengthen its role as a leading voice in the communications sector.
Looking ahead, the Governing Council outlined priorities for the coming year, including preparations for PRAU’s 50th anniversary celebrations, expansion of the membership base, enhancement of training and capacity-building programmes, and increased use of technology in service delivery.
Demonstrations of the digital ID system during the AGM showcased its functionality, with officials noting its ease of use and accessibility for members across different platforms.
As it approaches its 50-year milestone, PRAU reaffirmed its commitment to promoting ethical practice, professional development, and collaboration within Uganda’s communications industry.
