Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) has officially entered Uganda’s waragi market with the launch of Kyooto Waragi, a new spirit aimed at expanding the company’s alcoholic beverages portfolio while offering consumers a quality and trusted product.
The product was unveiled during a launch event at the Ndere Cultural Centre in Kampala, attended by distributors, business partners, members of the media and consumers.
The launch marks Nile Breweries’ latest diversification beyond its established beer brands, which include Nile Special, Club, Bell Lager, Eagle Lager and Castle Lite.
According to the brewer, Kyooto Waragi has been developed to provide consumers with a smooth drinking experience while maintaining high quality standards. The spirit features a tamper-proof quality seal designed to protect the integrity of the product and has been certified by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).
Speaking during the launch, Nile Breweries Managing Director Nkanyiso Mncwabe said the introduction of Kyooto Waragi represents a significant milestone for the company as it continues to respond to changing consumer preferences.
“Today marks an exciting new chapter for Nile Breweries as we officially introduce Kyooto Waragi to consumers across Uganda. For decades, consumers have trusted Nile Breweries to deliver brands that bring people together and create memorable experiences. Kyooto builds on that legacy by offering a quality spirit that reflects our commitment to excellence, innovation and meeting the evolving needs of our consumers,” Mncwabe said.
He added that the company had paid close attention to every aspect of the product’s development to ensure it meets the quality standards consumers expect.
“Every product we bring to market carries the reputation and standards that Nile Breweries has built over many years. Kyooto is no exception. From the quality seal that protects the integrity of the liquid to the smooth finish that defines the drinking experience, every detail has been carefully considered to ensure consumers enjoy a product they can trust,” he said.
Nile Breweries Country Marketing Lead Wangechi Gitahi said the new brand was developed with Ugandan consumers in mind.
“Kyooto has been developed with the Ugandan consumer at the heart of every decision we made. We wanted to create a brand that feels familiar, relevant and enjoyable while delivering the quality experience that consumers expect from Nile Breweries,” Gitahi said.
The launch featured entertainment performances, immersive brand experiences, product sampling and the official unveiling of Kyooto Waragi, giving invited guests an opportunity to sample the new spirit.
Kyooto Waragi is now available through Nile Breweries’ distribution network, with a nationwide rollout expected in the coming weeks.
