Ugandan artificial intelligence company Tyms has been named an OpenAI Select Partner, joining the global OpenAI Partner Network in a move aimed at helping businesses, enterprises and government institutions in emerging markets adopt AI-powered solutions.
The partnership will enable Tyms to work with OpenAI in developing, deploying and scaling artificial intelligence solutions that automate key business operations, including finance, sales, marketing, customer service, procurement and compliance.
Tyms, which focuses on businesses operating in emerging markets, provides AI software and agents designed to simplify operational processes for small and medium-sized businesses, large enterprises and government organisations.
The company also supports multinational corporations operating in Africa by providing AI-powered business tools, partner-led deployment and client-owned infrastructure.
The OpenAI Partner Network brings together technology companies with industry expertise, customer relationships and delivery capabilities to help organisations implement OpenAI models and products to achieve measurable business outcomes.
As an OpenAI Select Partner, Tyms will continue collaborating with OpenAI to help organisations use artificial intelligence responsibly while improving productivity and operational efficiency.
Allan Rwakatungu, CEO and Co-Founder of Tyms, described the recognition as a major milestone for the company and businesses across emerging markets.
“Being named an OpenAI Select Partner is a significant milestone for Tyms and for the businesses we serve across emerging markets in Africa and beyond,” Rwakatungu said.
He added that the partnership will allow Tyms to deliver more advanced AI agents capable of handling routine operational tasks and enabling businesses to focus on growth.
“This partnership gives us access to OpenAI’s frontier models and partner ecosystem, allowing us to deliver even more powerful AI agents that automate the operational work holding businesses back, from finance and sales to compliance and customer service,” he said.
Rwakatungu said emerging markets have an opportunity to use artificial intelligence to accelerate economic transformation by adopting advanced technologies without following traditional technology adoption timelines.
“Emerging markets don’t need to follow the same slow path the developed world took. With AI, they can leapfrog straight to world-class operations,” he added.
Tyms currently works with businesses and institutions across emerging markets, helping organisations automate processes such as financial reporting, sales management, compliance monitoring and customer support.
The company said its solutions are already supporting telecoms and enterprise clients across the region by improving operational efficiency through artificial intelligence.
Going forward, Tyms plans to expand its OpenAI-powered AI agent solutions across enterprise and government sectors in Africa and other emerging markets globally.
The company also intends to invest in AI certification and training for its partner network while developing specialised solutions targeting finance, compliance and customer service operations.
Through the partnership, Tyms aims to help organisations translate AI investments into measurable business results by reducing operational challenges and improving efficiency.
