Allan Tayebwa has officially been appointed as Honorary Consul of the Commonwealth of Dominica in Uganda, a move expected to strengthen trade, tourism, and economic ties between the two nations.
The appointment was formalized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Regional Affairs), where Tayebwa presented his credentials to John Mulimba, the State Minister of Foreign Affairs, gaining formal recognition to carry out consular duties in Uganda.
Speaking to the press, Tayebwa described the appointment as both a privilege and a responsibility. “I look forward to deepening the relationship between Uganda and the Commonwealth of Dominica through trade, investment, and partnerships that will benefit businesses and communities in both countries,” he said.
Tayebwa noted that Dominica’s key economic sectors, particularly tourism and agriculture, present opportunities for Uganda, including the coffee industry. He added that there is no visa requirement for business or tourism travel between the two countries and highlighted ongoing efforts with Ethiopian Airlines to improve connectivity.
Mulimba welcomed Tayebwa’s appointment, emphasizing the importance of promoting Ugandan products, adhering to international standards, and strengthening commercial partnerships. “Strategic collaborations like this are critical to expanding Uganda’s economic footprint globally,” he said.
Tayebwa, CEO of Goldmine Finance, brings over a decade of experience in financial services and business advisory. Under his leadership, Goldmine Finance has grown to a team of over 45 professionals serving more than 2,000 clients.
In his role as Honorary Consul, Tayebwa will represent Dominica’s interests in Uganda, facilitate trade and investment, support consular services, and promote cultural and economic cooperation.
The appointment marks a significant step in boosting bilateral engagement and fostering mutual growth between Uganda and the Commonwealth of Dominica.
