Buganda has announced that it collected a total of shs1.95billion through the “Luwalo Lwaffe” initiative between January and December 31, 2025, marking a significant boost in public support for the Kingdom’s development programmes.
Luwalo Lwaffe is a voluntary financial contribution campaign aimed at raising funds to support Buganda’s initiatives, projects, and government of Buganda.
Presenting the financial report at Bulange, Mengo, the Second Deputy Katikkiro and Kingdom Treasurer, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, said the collections represented a 16% increase compared to 2024.
He reported that last year, people visited the Kingdom headquarters under the “Luwalo Lwaffe” campaign 38 times, in 10 groups including parishes, sub-counties, diaspora communities, and education institutions, political parties among others.
The report shows that Makindye Mutuba II Sub-county was the best performer, collecting Shs80.2 million followed by Ssabagabo Nsangi with Shs60 million and Mutuba IV Mukulu wa Kibuga Mengo Lubaga with Shs47.2 million
Nsibirwa noted that the funds will be used to support several priority projects across the Kingdom, including the reconstruction of the Kasubi Royal Tombs, the upgrade of medical equipment at Muteesa II Hospital, the establishment of nursery schools in all counties, and the expansion of the Mwanyi Terimba coffee programme.
He said the steady rise in contributions reflects growing confidence by the people of Buganda in the Kingdom’s development agenda.
Luwalo Lwaffe is an annual, voluntary fundraising initiative by the Buganda Kingdom, where subjects contribute funds through their local Gombolola (sub-county) leadership to support the Kabaka’s development projects and daily operations
