Bombo Barracks Nursery and Primary School is set to receive a significant boost to its infrastructure and learning resources following a shs 300 million contribution from the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
The funds will go toward constructing a new classroom block, renovating existing structures, and providing essential scholastic materials for learners.
The cheque was officially handed over to the school administration by the CDF’s Military Assistant, Col. Christopher Muwumba. The contribution marks the first fulfilment of Gen. Kainerugaba’s pledge to channel his official allowances into projects that address critical community needs.
Bombo Barracks Primary School currently serves more than 800 learners, most of whom are children of soldiers. The investment is expected to greatly improve the learning environment, enhance academic outcomes, and boost morale among families living within the barracks.
The UPDF is concurrently supporting other education initiatives, including the construction of Ruhengyere Army Primary School and the rehabilitation of Lira Army Primary School—demonstrating a broader institutional commitment to strengthening education in barracks communities across the country.
School officials urged parents, teachers, and the surrounding community to safeguard the new facilities and work closely with the administration to ensure sustainable use.
The contribution from the CDF not only addresses urgent infrastructure needs but also reflects a long-term investment in the welfare of children and the families who support Uganda’s defence forces. The handover ceremony brought together school leaders, parents, and learners, all celebrating the beginning of a transformative development for the institution.
